Who are the Patriot Runners?
Founded in October 2012, the Patriot Runners are a normal and not so normal group of runners that are dedicated using our talents as runners to raise money for combat-wounded veterans.
The sole purpose of the organization is to provide assistance to combat-wounded veterans. Our main objective is to help return combat-wounded veterans to recreational sports that will help them deal with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders and Traumatic Brain Injuries. The monies that we raise are used to help with items such as physical therapy costs, prosthesis, training, and disorder awareness.
We have multiple Goals:
1) Assist those Combat Wounded Veterans with physical therapy costs and other costs such as prosthesis that will help them return to recreation activities such as running, basketball, baseball and other sports that they would not normally have the opportunity to participate in.
2) Assist in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PSTD) with the use of exercise. There are several theories as to how exercise may exert antidepressant effects.
3) Bring awareness to more individuals about PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injuries in the Veteran community.
